Someone Special

I have not posted in a long time, and I apologize for that.

About a year ago I went on a day hike with my husband at my family’s farm and I took my camera along to capture some of springs wonders and new life.  I write this in honor of a very special friend of ours.

I took this particular photo because, well it was perfect in my eyes and even more so now as I stare into it.

With heavy hearts we post one of the last photos that Rachel Ewen Photography took of Thompon Valley Farms lead dog and family member, Dodger. We were given him ( or my Mom picked him up somewhere, she likes to do that! :D ) about 18 years ago. I remember the pudgy skin and yellow hair like it was yesterday. Little did we know he would out live almost every dog we had gotten. Sparkie, who passed when she was 21 a few years ago, and Ruff who went missing the year before that. It always seemed our, cautious, faithful Dodge would never leave. He was always there to teach the new pups how to lay down and eat out of their dish, to stay out of the fields and to always hang around after dinner, there will always be some for you.

Dodge wasn’t much of a swimmer, but he would lay down in the water to cool off. This was taken during the new dogs swimming lessons and pulling a beaver damn.

This was taken last spring, Ryan and I went for a walk, and this was the photo that transpired.  To get here, you have to walk to the far edge of the bottom fields, cross the river, and go right. Keep walking till you reach the top of the hill and here is what you will see. Keep in mind you will get wet. Your crossing rivers you know!

This is really the only way to remember Dodge for me. He was such a kind, gentle soul. For anyone who had met him would know this. He died in the arms of his owner, best friend and master, doing what he loved, helping.

Until next time.

Long Time No Blog!

Author: Rachel  //  Category: Uncategorized

First of all. I apologize. I have not been up to date on my blogging. Life has been very crazy for the last few months.

I have hardly enough time to pick up my camera and take a few pictures. (part of the reason is my memory card was missing there for awhile! :S  OPPS!)

Moving is such a joyous thing. With the packing, lifting, moving, and unpacking. It has been my life since around Christmas time. Hence the reason why you haven’t heard from me in awhile.

With all exhausting things out of the way (the moving I mean) on to more exciting stuff!

It is officially spring! Which means I am excited to get out there and take some more nature shots! Being in a new city (We are in Burlington now, but we can come to wherever you are for your photos! :D ) I am pretty happy to see we have a large waterfront that I can enjoy.

I am going to share a photo of my cat Sadie relaxing before our last big move. Don’t worry, she may look a zombie cat, but she just likes her blanket!

If you are looking for a photographer feel free to email me or check out my new website. It is still under construction but it is getting there.

Until next time!

Its been a while since I have posted something. Life has been pretty crazy. Ryan and I are getting ready to move again in April, this time to a permanent home for the next few years. I am very excited for that. :D

In my previous post, I featured Kate and Shawn who are were at the time expecting their first child. My god son Dylan.

I had the opportunity to sit down and take some photos of him. I have decided I am going to make him a personal project. My goal is to capture him as he grows up so Shawn and Kate will have something from every stage. :D

So here he is, Dylan growing up. Enjoy!  ~ Rachel
